Above Photo Melton Constable's first Post Office was in Melton_Street but by 1915, it had moved to Briston Road, on its corner with Gordon_Road, as shown on the left of this photo, where it was run by the sharp tongued Miss Nellie Linder. The Post Office was semi-detached with the Police House next door. The next house down was the Dr. Welch's surgery, which was built in 1896. The baker's cart on the right is parked outside Alfred Rose's 'Hygienic Bakery'. |
